It has been a while since I wrote a “this is what I did” Blog post. Well, it has been a while since I wrote a blog post at all, to be honest; so here it is, in all it’s moaning glory. While the below was happening, it was accompanied by birdsong from the trees out side our flat. We are grateful for where we live. It means a lot to finally have a decent landlord, and we have a very decent landlord, right now. He is a good chap.

Quick sharp! Woke up at 6am and wrote an article for the Harrogate Advertiser. It was approved and published by lunch and you have to head to the Harrogate Advertiser’s website to read it. The blog topic was about a Leeds Trinity student starting at the station. His show seems amazing, based on the pilot and he has gone to great lengths to make it, good work!

Work today; it was wholesome – I may be up for a mention on the Reedsy website. I hope to offer my web design skills to people who are linked to the publishing business. Everyone from poets to photographers use the service of introductions to designers, developers and graphic artists; Reedsy seems the go-to place to get help with your book.

Wrote a blog article on my worksite. I seem to be doing a lot of that and it is great for long-tail SEO. Work is great at the minute. I am spreading out as a freelance website designer and a content designer, too. I am hoping to build a reputaton as a content designer for charities, nonprofits and NGOs. I seem to be getting there now, having passed my course.

And, I found a great service of volunteer mentors called ADPList. They are helping iron out any bumps in the presentation of my portfolio.

Having exchanged contracts with a charity, I am self-imposing an NDA because it is a spicy bisciut and I do not want to blow my chances.

Also, I have recently helped out Harrogate Film Society – they contacted me to help with their website. But, they eventually chose another designer, one who was fluent in Wix. Their existing site is a Wix site and I do not have the chops for that – if they ever want a WordPress designer they know where to come though.

For some work I did for the Harrogate Film Society (I helped them with their Facebook presence) we were given some guest tickets to a screening of the film, Flee (2021) this evening. Flee managed to put a name and a face, and importntly a voice, too, to the biggest injustice of our times – how refugees are treated by the country they hope to start a fresh life in.

The film really hit the feels with me – Kathryn was blown away by it, too.

To the effect that we may purchase a Memebership to the society for their next season. Yes, we have found a group of media aware people and they treated us as if we could contribute to the conversation. They were all very welcoming and it was a great night.

Now, with stinging eyes (sleep issues) I am typing this blog in the hope that I wind down for enough sleep so that it doesn’t affect my tomorrow. Guess I am easily pleased but, despite a few creaks and groans in my joiints I am happy with my lot – thanks for reading this far…
